Everything about this boot answers to uneven ground. The collar comes up over the ankle so the foot cannot roll as far sideways, the rubber wraps up over the toe where boots take the most abuse, and the sole is cut into deep blocks that bite instead of skating. On pavement none of that matters. Off it, all of it does.

The sole is where the cost sits. A deep-lugged rubber outsole bonded over a capsule midsole is two components made and joined, not one wedge of foam pressed in a single mold, and the rubber has to be hard enough to last on rock and soft enough to grip it.
